Das Drei Ringe-Modell der Begabung wurde von Joseph Renzulli (1979) als ein Mehrfaktoren-Erklärungsmodell für Hochbegabung entwickelt. Das Modell war eines der ersten Modelle, das Kreativität als eigenständiges, und auch von der Intelligenz unabhängiges, Kriterium anführte; es beschreibt Hochbegabung als eine Schnittmenge von drei Persönlichkeitsmerkmalen:
- "über dem Durchschnitt liegenden Fähigkeiten"
- Kreativität
- Motivation, i.S.v. Aufgaben-Zugewandheit/ Commitment (Verpflichtung)
