Desired State (DS) (deutsch: Wunsch-Zustand) ist ein Begriff, der eine ideale, erwünschte oder angestrebte Soll-Situation beschreibt (oft gebraucht im Gegensatz zu Present State (PS)). Speziell im kreativen Prozess, wie auch etwa im TOTE-Modell, markiert er damit einen wünschenswerten Endzustand, an dem sich alle Phasen und Vorgehensweisen im Prozess ausrichten müssen und der immer wieder zu Kontrollzwecken zu vergegenwärtigen ist.
Wenn der Desired State absolut identisch ist mit dem Present State, braucht es i.d.R. keinen kreativen Prozess bzw. keine kreative Bemühungen dazwischen. Erst wenn es hier Abweichungen gibt, sind korrektive Massnahmen/ Interventionen angeraten bzw. erforderlich.
